Promoting electric vehicles to reduce regional air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has selected CSE to administer a new incentive program aimed at increasing the number of zero-emission vehicles state residents own. The program provides $885,000 in funding for the purchase or lease of eligible electric vehicles (EVs).

California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) is offering state and local public agencies serving disadvantaged communities newly increased rebates for purchasing eligible electric vehicles for their fleet operations. CSE, as administrators of the statewide project for the California Air Resources Board, is now accepting rebate applications funded by $2.8 million available from the state’s Low Carbon Transportation Investments.

The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative announced today an award of $712,000 to the CSE for a project aimed at eliminating barriers to greater adoption of solar electric power systems at multiple tenant commercial properties and multifamily housing.

A new guidebook outlining ways for California cities and counties to make permit processing and inspections for home rooftop solar electric systems quicker and more uniform is now available from CSE. Increasing solar energy adoption is a key component for many local jurisdictions in achieving goals for energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reductions and climate action plans.

When a residential HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) replacement is made in California, it's often done without the required permits. Why? While the cost of a permit is a factor, the biggest hindrance is the time it typically takes to go through the permit process.

The Center for Sustainable Energy, with funding from the California Energy Commission, is working with building departments across Southern California to make the residential HVAC permit process less burdensome — for both contractors and building department staff.

Center for Sustainable Energy Unites with Equinox Center

Newly formed Equinox Project will enhance and expand quality of life research and analysis

CSE has announced a merger with the San Diego-based nonprofit Equinox Center. The union officially creates the Equinox Project, an initiative to be directed by CSE to enhance and expand the work of the former Equinox Center, which focused on environmental, economic and civic affairs in the region.
