Webinar Focuses on ZNE in Multi-unit Dwellings Sept. 26

With nearly a third of California residents living in multi-unit dwellings, local governments are striving to develop policies that encourage energy efficiency in multifamily housing to help achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions and climate action plans by working toward zero net energy (ZNE) buildings.

The Center for Sustainable Energy’s Equinox Project has released the 2017 San Diego Regional Quality of Life Dashboard, which assesses the top economic and environmental indicators to gauge the region’s progress toward sustainability. This year the dashboard is available for the first time in an online, interactive format at SDQualityofLife.org.

CSE has received a 2017 ENERGY STAR Award for Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion for outstanding efforts to promote energy-efficient products in the Energy Upgrade California program. The Center for Sustainable Energy® (CSE) has launched the new Home Energy Improvement Potential Map. The free online resource gives contractors, home energy raters, real estate agents and local governments a tool to identify California homeowners and communities by ZIP code and census tract where residents are most likely to engage in energy improvements from energy efficiency upgrades to solar installations and electric vehicle purchases.

Energy Upgrade California™ is spreading their message of clean energy and conservation in a very special way this month. The program has donated 100 newborn onesies to the Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista for the holidays and New Year with the simple message, “Save Energy for My Future.”

The outfits will be given to new parents as a reminder of how important it is to conserve energy, according to Jean Vreeland, CSE’s marketing manager for Energy Upgrade California.

“Switching to clean energy is the greatest gift we can provide for future generations,” Vreeland said.
