The Center for Sustainable Energy® (CSE) has launched the new Home Energy Improvement Potential Map. The free online resource gives contractors, home energy raters, real estate agents and local governments a tool to identify California homeowners and communities by ZIP code and census tract where residents are most likely to engage in energy improvements from energy efficiency upgrades to solar installations and electric vehicle purchases.

CSE’s Clean Energy Financing Advisory Council (CEFAC) is kicking off a two-year tour of California to increase awareness of financing programs and options that support home and commercial energy improvement projects throughout the state in an effort to help stimulate clean energy adoption.

The California Energy Commission has awarded $4.5 million to CSE to develop workforce resources in disadvantaged communities to help improve the state’s energy efficiency in existing buildings. Funds for the four-year program are part of the commission’s Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) initiative to create new power grid solutions and foster energy sector innovations.

CCSE has met and exceeded the megawatt goal set by the California Public Utilities Commission for the residential California Solar Initiative (CSI) solar electric program in the SDG&E service territory and will soon exhaust the remaining rebate funds.

Rebates for home solar energy systems from the California Solar Initiative (CSI) are ending in the San Diego region after supplying some $54 million in support of more than 17,900 residential installations since the program’s inception in 2006.

Workforce training for the home performance industry has been a mainstay of CCSE since 2012. Through the GETUP Energy Upgrade Internship Program, CCSE provides classroom and hands-on field training with the goal of providing the industry with trained entry-level professionals. With an average class size of 11 students, GETUP provides personalized training with CCSE’s home performance experts.

Loren Fink, a November 2013 GETUP graduate, is quite pleased with the training program.

MASH program brought 2.6 MW of solar & $10 million in rebates               

The final project in a program that has provided 2.6 megawatts of clean solar power to low-income San Diegans was dedicated during ceremonies at the Townspeople Apartments in Normal Heights on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
