Brett Williams, CSE’s Senior Transportation Principal Advisor, was selected to speak at the Connecticut EV Roadmap technical meeting on February 8, 2019. Hosted by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the goal of the meeting was to better support the development of a self-sustaining EV market in Connecticut and inform policymakers and other stakeholders about the state’s progress thus far.

As the daughter of Guatemalan and Mexican immigrants who met in Echo Park in the late 1960s, my roots are imbedded in NELA’s emergence. I felt fortunate to grow up in inner-city Los Angeles, which gave me access to places steeped in traditional ethnic roots and an eclectic circle of people and family to be my friends and role models.

Although some recent work by the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Consumer’s Union shows encouraging signs about electric vehicle (EV) awareness generally in California, roughly 75 percent of those surveyed did not know the state offers significant rebates for electric cars and 80 percent were unaware of the substantial federal tax credit.

The Center for Sustainable Energy’s Equinox Project has released the 2017 San Diego Regional Quality of Life Dashboard, which assesses the top economic and environmental indicators to gauge the region’s progress toward sustainability. This year the dashboard is available for the first time in an online, interactive format at SDQualityofLife.org.
