CSE has received a 2017 ENERGY STAR Award for Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion for outstanding efforts to promote energy-efficient products in the Energy Upgrade California program. CSE’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., on April 26, 2017.

Energy Upgrade California™ is spreading their message of clean energy and conservation in a very special way this month. The program has donated 100 newborn onesies to the Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista for the holidays and New Year with the simple message, “Save Energy for My Future.”

The outfits will be given to new parents as a reminder of how important it is to conserve energy, according to Jean Vreeland, CSE’s marketing manager for Energy Upgrade California.

“Switching to clean energy is the greatest gift we can provide for future generations,” Vreeland said.

The City of Claremont has earned first place in the CoolCalifornia Challenge, a competition that pitted city against city to motivate residents to take actions and track efforts to reduce their carbon footprints. Out of 22 cities vying for the title of “Coolest California City,” Claremont captured the top spot earning 2,443,779 sustainability points after finishing second last year.

The Energy Upgrade California team recognized the UCLA Sustainability Team at the UCLA basketball game at Pauley Pavilion on November 15. The UCLA Sustainability Team, led by Nurit Katz, the chief sustainability officer, has done an outstanding job of implementing sustainability in sports and recreation at UCLA. The game was dedicated to sustainability.

Eliot and Ashley Metzger started researching energy efficiency programs before they even moved into their Scripps Ranch house. It turned out to be time well spent. During their first winter in the 1970-built home, the furnace cycled on multiple times each night and the bedrooms fluctuated between too cold and too hot.

In early October, CCSE joined in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2013 Solar Decathlon at Orange County Great Park in Irvine. The international event drew tens of thousands of visitors to view 19 college teams design, build and operate homes powered by the sun.
