CSE has received a $40,000 grant from The San Diego Foundation to support the Equinox Project’s efforts to turn research into action to help local governments achieve a healthy environment and stronger economy. It is part of $230,460 in awards to seven programs that work to ensure our region is prepared with clean and secure water supplies in light of a changing climate and potential drought conditions.

The Center for Sustainable Energy’s Equinox Project has released the 2017 San Diego Regional Quality of Life Dashboard, which assesses the top economic and environmental indicators to gauge the region’s progress toward sustainability. This year the dashboard is available for the first time in an online, interactive format at SDQualityofLife.org.

Restaurants and retail food vendors can switch from plastic foam food and beverage containers to more environmentally friendly products without incurring a substantial financial burden for their businesses or customers, according to a new report by the Equinox Project at the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE).

In November, The San Diego Foundation awarded $410,522 in grants to eight innovative public-private partnerships and nonprofit programs focused on water resilience and developing smart cities prepared for the impacts of climate change in the San Diego region.

The grants assist with the development and implementation of regional and local government action plans and address climate change through research, strategic investments and collaborations so communities enjoy cleaner air and water – and a healthier and safer region.
