Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is an independent, mission-driven nonprofit organization with offices in San Diego, Oakland, Los Angeles and Boston. We accelerate the adoption of clean and efficient energy solutions via program administration, technical assistance, policy innovation, and other forms of market facilitation. We are uniquely positioned and engaged with a variety of stakeholders and market actors, including policy-makers, state and federal agencies, regional and local governments, utilities, business and civic leaders, and individuals in both the general market and equity sectors. Our technical areas of focus include distributed energy resources (renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, fuel cells, combined heat and power) and clean transportation.

Manages budgets, timelines, deliverables, and teams for a suite of infrastructure transportation projects.  Facilitates the coordination of multiple market development projects.  Provides overall operational support within CSE’s Transportation Department, including new program development and implementation.

Essential Functions and responsibilities:

  • Define project scopes, budgets, goals and objectives according to Statements of Work
  • Support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Interact with EV market stakeholders including, but not limited to, utility representatives, auto makers, dealers, fleet owners, air districts, Air Resources Board and Energy Commission representatives, project partners, media, and others
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, end user interactions, project details, timelines, and scope and drive issue resolution
  • Make recommendations on infrastructure program design, including needs assessments, proposals, marketing tools, and evaluation and reporting
  • Monitor daily activities to ensure that procedures are working to achieve program goals and to support efficient processes
  • Review project plans as necessary throughout the course of the fiscal year
  • Create project reports and presentations to both internal and external clients
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Senior Manager, EV Infrastructure which will include, but are not limited to, tracking budgets, project developments and new funding opportunities
  • Manage department budget and regularly monitor actual expenses versus budgeted amounts.  Communicate significant budget variances to executive management.  Recommend budget revisions and/or changes to department activities that keep expenses within budget and staff utilization rates on target.
  • Represent CSE programs and CSE at external events as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management through all five phases (initiating, planning, execution, monitoring, closing)
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, negotiating, executing and managing grant agreements and government contracts
  • Extremely detail-oriented, exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to perform within required deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project budget management, tracking and reporting
  • In-depth understanding of California and national transportation issues relating to greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air pollutant emissions
  • In-depth understanding of California and national energy policies including the role of public and private utilities in state energy policy
  • Understanding of electric vehicle and alternative fuel technologies, markets and trends
  • Working knowledge of project management software programs
  • Experience with budgeting software programs and Microsoft Office Suite

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 10 years of related experience, including 4 years of experience in clean energy industry preferred

Licenses, Certificates or Registrations:

  • PMP Certification preferred
