The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) wanted to expand its use of photovoltaic solar electricity to save money and help meet state energy and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. CSE, in partnership with Arup, developed a robust solar feasibility study for BART – but the project didn’t stop there.

By understanding BART’s business model and challenges, the CSE-Arup team laid out opportunities and benefits for not only increased use of solar, but also incorporating energy storage and plug-in electric vehicles.
