During 2006-16, CSE administered the general market portion of the California Solar Initiative (CSI) for the California Public Utilities Commission, providing rebates for photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial utility customers in the San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) territory.
Through the program, CSE awarded more than 19,300 rebates totaling over $191 million to help businesses, nonprofit organizations, public agencies and homeowners lower their energy costs, reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and create a sustainable energy future supported by solar technologies in the San Diego region. We also offered educational programs, professional training, conferences and other activities aimed at promoting the widespread adoption of solar PV, the growth of a strong solar industry and the development of supportive solar policies and regulations.
Today, CSE draws upon the expertise and experience we gained as CSI program managers to assist consumers nationwide through our Center for Solar Energy.

To date, CSE has administered and processed more than 19,300 rebates totaling some $191 million for 214 megawatts of installed solar power.
225,000 tons of CO2 prevented
Incentivized solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the San Diego region are reducing greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to approximately 225,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
7,500+ homeowners and business reached
Through 2007-15, CSE’s program team held 310 workshops for more than 7,500 homeowners, business owners and contractors.
