The Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) has partnered with Cleantech San Diego and a number of other regional partners in launching the San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster (SDREIC). The program is funded by a five-year, $5 million grant from the California Energy Commission and extends its offerings to the energy innovation industry in San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

In keeping with CSE’s mission to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world powered by clean energy, the cluster’s goal is to advance commercialization and adoption of energy innovations that will help overcome barriers to meeting state energy goals by leveraging and building on existing programs, resources and opportunities in entrepreneurship and advanced energy technology.

SDREIC partners include regional academic institutions, business organizations, nonprofits and incubators, who have expertise in applied research and development of energy technologies and a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory barriers and market intelligence needed to facilitate widespread adoption of new innovations.

Specifically, the program will identify innovative entrepreneurs who are developing solutions to the region’s priority energy needs and provide them with customized service plans that include access to advisory support from SDREIC business, policy and academic partners, as well as connections to investors and companies who can assist in technology commercialization services and proof-of-concept and pilot testing. Such avenues will facilitate bringing new energy innovations to market more quickly and help transform the region’s energy system.

If you are an entrepreneur interested in applying, or a volunteer interested in supporting the SDREIC program, please join us online.
