Harnessing the Power of the Sun

Skyline Church community comes together to save with solar

When Skyline Wesleyan Church decided to go solar to reduce electricity use and help cap rising utility costs they took to the roof — literally. Members with building experience assisted in the installation of a 219-kW DC solar electric system, which allowed the church to save money on the project. They achieved further cost savings by using a ballasted mounting, which eliminated drilling holes into the flat rooftop, yet the system is still very secure.

Skyline Church funded their solar project thorough a private loan and receives monthly performance-based incentive payments from the California Solar Initiative for the electricity generated.
