John Livermore, a sustainability expert with more than 25 years’ experience in designing and implementing energy efficiency programs and directing citizen organizations, is the new director of CSE’s Northeast regional operations.

Most recently, Livermore was CEO of the nonprofit Healthy Home Healthy Planet and founder of Sustainable Marblehead (Mass.). A long-term Massachusetts resident, Livermore has worked as the lead residential consultant to the state’s Energy Efficiency Advisory Council and as new construction director at Conservation Services Group, directing operations of the regional EPA Energy Star Homes program in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

Livermore has worked for nonprofits, architecture and engineering firms, municipalities, solar companies and state agencies. He produced a documentary on his own home, the first net positive energy renovated home in Massachusetts.

“John has developed dynamic and award-winning energy efficiency programs in collaboration with state energy offices, utilities and stakeholders and brings valuable knowledge about the utility mindset and way of doing business in New England,” said Larry Goldenhersh, CSE president. “In addition to his substantial experience in energy efficiency, John has deep contacts in the renewable energy ecosystem in the Northeast that should bring great value to CSE.”

Livermore will work out of CSE’s Northeast regional office in Boston.
